Weekly Recap: Playing catch-up (3/5-3/11)

And Still a little behind

It's always hard for me to get back into the swing of things after coming back from vacation. Especially when we come back from vacation in the middle of the week.

weekly recap 3/5-3/11

I spent most of last week trying to get caught up on work and freelance projects, and as a result my workouts got pushed aside. I also had a bit of hamstring and piriformis tweaking on my run on Thursday, so that kind of freaked me out and made me feel a little better about taking a rest this week. I do not want to re-injure myself and deal with that awful pain again.

See below for my sad workout summary.

Workout Summary

Monday Walked about 10 miles all over the resort
Tuesday Travel day
Wednesday Catch up day
Thursday Run: 3 miles (easy)
Friday Off
Saturday Off
Sunday Run: 5 miles (easy)
Totals 2 runs/8 miles

While I didn't have the most stellar training week last week, this week is a new week and I'll get back on track. Since I'm not training for anything specific right now, I'm okay with that. Life happens.

Even though I didn't get a lot of runs in last week, at least I had good views for the ones I did

Speaking of life...I've got a crazy few weeks coming up with an uptick in my husband's travel schedule as well, so I'll be juggling that with the rest of life.

He recently got a promotion and while I'm glad for that, it also means we're back to more travel for him, which really affects my overall schedule and life while I'm also working full time, and building my own software and digital product design business, and attempting to do things with this blog (and related stuffs).

It's not easy, especially when I don't get much free time in the evenings because our 3-year-old is horrible with bed time (just for us, though, he's perfectly fine with sitters and with grandma and grandpa who watched him while we were on vacation). Most nights it's a several hour ordeal and by the time I'm finished with that, I'm too tired to do anything else.

Maybe I need to start drinking coffee at 3 pm like I used to when I worked in an office (as opposed to working from home like I do now).

In related news, I've been working on focusing (re-focusing) my general goals, including this blog, my related Instagram account, and the larger life plans I have to go with it.

Over the past year, after dealing with constant illness and injury in addition to being very busy with work and side projects, I got very discouraged and didn't really post much more than weekly recaps. Even those have been pretty half-hearted, too. There's only so much you can write about when you aren't training for anything and you're sick (again...again...again).

But anyway, I have plans and I'm trying to figure out the best way to accomplish them without also losing my mind. More Charleston, more travel, more art, more actually doing the things. I'm thinking a second pot of coffee in the afternoons so I can stay up a bit later might be a good start.

How was your week? Do you have trouble getting back into a regular routine after a vacation?
