One of the best things about living in this vibrant, beachside city of Charleston, South Carolina is, well, the beach. I live less than 10 minutes from sand and surf, and it's amazing. I remember when I first moved here I swore up and down that I'd be at the beach every single weekend. But, it's so easy once you're here to completely take it for granted and putting it off to the next weekend and then the next becomes habit, and before I know it, it's been more than a month since I've seen the ocean. This is unacceptable.
To be fair, the beaches here turn into a complete zoo on weekends during the summer months, so I tend to avoid getting into that fray. But since I do live so close to the beach, I can get there at non-prime times, even through summer. Like yesterday. We picked B up from daycare and went straight to the beach for an hour or so before dinner. Days like these remind me of exactly why I live at the beach and why I never want to leave.
